Jaiden McCoy’s path to realize her dreams has been anything but simple.
While some basketball players have a cushioned track for success, McCoy’s been met by barbed wires and mud pits in the company of coaching change drama, a head injury and the need for a titanium pin hammered into her hip.
If what doesn’t kill us truly makes us stronger, McCoy is a powerlifter of life as she awaits her next move, which could mean a return to playing basketball in Knoxville and suiting up for the Tennessee Lady Vols.
Kellie Harper replaced former Bearden High standout Holly Warlick as Tennessee women’s basketball head coach on April 9. Seventeen days later, Harper placed a phone call to McCoy and offered the rising redshirt junior a scholarship offer.
