GREENBACK—It was a statement that began on Greenback’s first play from scrimmage.
Cherokee coach Greg Ryan dialed up a play that forced the Oliver Springs safety to choose between a streaking Holden Willis and Duke Stinnett on a crossing route. The Bobcat defender chose to shade toward Willis and Braden Carnes took note.
The Greenback quarterback found Stinnett across the middle, and the senior sped by the defense on his way to a 65-yard touchdown that opened the floodgates. The Cherokees never took their foot off the pedal, cruising to a 50-0 win over their Region 2-A opponent on Friday night.
