GATLINBURG – Austin-East coach Jeff Phillips has been waiting for senior running back Isaiah Ligon to kick it into a higher gear.
Phillips got his wish Thursday as the explosive Ligon ran wild against Gatlinburg-Pittman in a key Region 2-3A game.
Ligon scored four touchdowns and ran for 279 yards on 18 carries as the Roadrunners downed the Highlanders 32-17.
“Everybody has been like, ‘where’s Isaiah, where’s Isaiah,’” said Phillips.
“Well, there’s Isaiah. He did a good job. He finally starting playing and doing what we need him to. This is kind of where Isaiah starts stepping up.”
