RUTLEDGE – Grainger coach Chad Tate gave Grizzlies junior quarterback Dawson Holt a heads up earlier in the week that he might have a busy night Friday against Union County.
His prediction was spot on.
Holt rushed for 204 yards on 33 carries and scored three touchdowns as Grainger edged the Patriots 24-20 to claim the final playoff berth in Region 1-4A.
Grainger (6-4, 3-3) travels to Anderson County (9-1) Friday in the first round of the playoffs while Union County finishes its season 4-6 overall and 2-4 in the region.
