The TSSAA announced the 2019 semifinalists for Tennessee Titans Mr. Football on Thursday, and 10 players from the 5Star Preps coverage area made the list.
All semifinalists, finalists and winners were selected at the end of the regular season through statewide voting and by a selection committee comprised of statewide high school media.
What a player does in the postseason does not affect the outcome. FINAL votes were cast before the first round of the playoffs.
Academics and character of each candidate were also taken into consideration.
Area semifinalists include: Holden Willis (Greenback), Grey Carroll (Alcoa), Trey Foster (Austin-East), Ty Youngblood (Greeneville), Colton Webb (Powell), Elijah Young (South-Doyle), Cade Chambers (Maryville), Zack Tilley (TKA), Cooper Riggs (Grace) and Zeke Rankin (Alcoa).
Finalists will be announced by Mike Keith, the voice of the Tennessee Titans, live on Nov. 19 on titansonline.com. All finalists will be invited to Nissan Stadium on Monday, Dec. 2 for the presentation of the Mr. Football awards.
