GREENBACK — Returning to the locker room at halftime with his teammates, Holden Willis heard over the P.A. system that he had broken the TSSAA record for touchdown receptions in a season.
Willis didn’t care at that point, but he was out of words when he stood at the center of Cooper Field among a throng of Greenback fans for the final time as a player.
He cared much more about the numbers on the scoreboard, which indicated he’ll enjoy one last ride with his teammates as they play for the state championship next week.
