Christmas came early for Jordan Bowden Thursday night in the form of gift for the ages.
The former Carter High basketball scoring star had his No. 3 jersey retired in a ceremony before the boys’ game against Sevier County. The school gym was packed for the occasion. The court was crowded as well with family members and Bowden’s extended family, which included teachers, administrators and his University of Tennessee basketball teammates.
“I’ll cherish this moment for the rest of my life,” he said. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime thing.”
