Mike Hutchens is a big proponent of AAU basketball.
The longtime boys’ coach at Catholic High School knows AAU ball is another chance for high school players to showcase their skills to college coaches.
Hutchens said of the 13 players on Catholic’s 2020 Division II-AA state championship team, he thinks only one wasn’t involved in AAU ball last spring and summer.
“AAU is critical in getting seen,” Hutchens said. “That’s why I’m such a big supporter of AAU. The kids get seen. I don’t care how they get seen as long as they get seen.”
They might not get seen anymore in AAU this year with practices and tournaments postponed indefinitely due the coronavirus pandemic.
