HOW TEAMS ARE SELECTED
Players are selected based off overall talent, team success, character, statistics, coaches recommendations and our staff’s evaluations throughout the season. This isn’t not based on recruiting nor is this a recruiting prospect list.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Mike Hutchens (Catholic): Hutchens led Catholic to a 25-4 record, only lost to one in-state team and helped the program win its first-ever state championship, knocking off defending champion Briarcrest to win the Division II-AA title.
FIRST TEAM
Joe Anderson (Maryville): The senior guard and Furman signee helped Maryville to a Class AAA state tournament berth, averaging 24 points, 5 assists and 3 steals per game to earn Mr. Basketball finalist honors.
B.J. Edwards (Catholic): A Mr. Basketball finalist and Top 50 player nationally in the class of 2022, Edwards steered the Irish to a Division II-AA state championship with 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game.
Akeem Odusipe (Catholic): The senior forward recently committed to Vanderbilt after averaging 16.3 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game during Catholic’s Division II-AA championship season.
Edward Lacey (Fulton): The high-energy senior point guard found his way into the list of three finalists for Class AA Mr. Basketball thanks to 25 points, six assists and five rebounds per game.
Dante Harris (Lakeway): A senior point guard and Georgetown signee, Harris won the area scoring title with 32.6 points per game. He also threw in 9.3 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game and was a Division II-A Mr. Basketball finalist.
Kendrick Holland (South-Doyle): Holland guided the Cherokees to their first 20-win season and first region semifinal appearance in 25 years. The senior guard averaged 19 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 3 steals per game.
Wes Maples (Sevier County): The District 2-AAA regular-season and tournament MVP averaged 19.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. He has signed to play for Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C.
SECOND TEAM
Ty Hurst (Carter): A UNC-Pembroke signee and one of the area’s premier players over the last two seasons, Hurst capped his prep career with 20.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 2.3 assists per game.
Luke Burnett (Webb): Burnett helped get Webb to the Division II-A state semifinals, averaging 14.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game in a balanced Spartans offense. The senior guard signed with Alabama-Huntsville.
Jonathan Milloway (Oak Ridge): A 6-7 junior, Milloway helped Oak Ridge qualify for the Class AAA state tournament with 16.3 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.
Jeremy Miller (Oak Ridge): The 6-4 junior pumped in 16.8 points and 7 rebounds per game, as the Wildcats won 27 games and qualified for the Class AAA state tournament.
Tariq Daughton (Webb): Daughton, a Lee signee, averaged 10.6 points per game. An athletic guard, Daughton shot 61.1 percent from the floor and helped Webb reach the Division II-A state semis.
Trey Morrow (Scott): Morrow was the catalyst behind Scott going 24-7. The standout sophomore averaged 22.1 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, along with 3.6 assists and 2.0 steals.
Reid Satterfield (Greeneville): The 2019-20 Underclassman of the Year dropped 42 in a section win over Fulton, averaging 17.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game as a sophomore.
THIRD TEAM
Uriah Powers (Webb): A heady senior and consistent part of Webb’s postseason success the last few years, Powers averaged 13 points with 6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game this past season.
B.J. Marable (Grace Christian): A double-double machine and a UNC-Asheville signee, the 6-8 Marable averaged 18.4 points and 8.3 boards as the Rams reached the Division II-A state quarterfinals.
Micah Simpson (Morristown East): The 6-foot sophomore guard averaged 24.1 points, 2.9 steals and 3.6 rebounds per game, leading the Hurricanes to the Region 1-AAA Tournament.
Hayden Llewellyn (Jellico): The 6-2 freshman stormed onto the scene with an array of dunks and guard skills that led to him averaging 26.7 points per game with 3.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals.
Tyler Nordin (Bearden): The 6-4 senior wing missed the last month of the season with an ACL injury but was well on his way to bigger honors with 21 points and 7.8 rebounds per game through Jan. 21.
Cameron George (William Blount): The 6-4 senior was one of the area’s most explosive and electrifying players. He led the Govs in scoring (15.8), rebounds (8.4), steals (1.3), blocks (1.0) and was second in assists (2.5).
Evan Winchester (Clinton): The District 3-AAA Co-MVP averaged 18 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds per game, and the Dragons reached the Region 2-AAA semifinals since 2005.
