Coalfield football coach Keith Henry saw a renewed enthusiasm when his players reported for the opening phase of summer workouts June 1.
It was a chance to be together again after weeks of stay-at-home orders due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“They were ready to be together and get to work,” Henry said. “They missed that camaraderie part. They hadn’t seen each other in so long.”
Henry and his staff have their work cut out with the departure of 14 seniors from the 2019 team that went 8-4 and reached the second round of the playoffs before losing to Class state runner-up Greenback, 56-16.
