While commenting June 7 on the unexpected resignation of head football coach Dan Hammonds, Greeneville athletics director Brad Woolsey stated that the school would like a new coach in place before the TSSAA dead period concluded on July 5.
He wasn’t joking.
And that’s just what happened.
Greeneville announced the promotion of Eddie Spradlen to head coach on Tuesday morning — five days before the dead period ends.
