The final score almost seemed like an afterthought Thursday night at Halls High School.
After months of COVID-19 handwringing, all parties agreed it felt great just to be playing again as Halls and Gibbs kicked off the 2020 high school football season.
And by the way, the Red Devils knocked off the Eagles 31-17 in the Region 2-5A battle.
“It was good just to get the kids out here competing,” said Halls coach Scott Cummings.
“I believe it was the first game in the state this season and it was on TV. No pressure there, huh?”
