Getting called to the administrative offices during the middle of a school day is, oftentimes, never a good thing when you’re a high school student.
But when South-Doyle head football coach and athletics director Clark Duncan called Shawn Gary to his office on an early September day, he had only good news to deliver.
“I was in school, and Coach Duncan called me to the office,” recalled Gary on Friday night. “He was like, ‘Well, Mr. Gary. You’re going to play running back this week.’
“I was like, ‘OK. I’m ready.'”
