ROCKWOOD — During his preseason preparations with the Rockwood football team, longtime head coach John Webb chose to only bring one football onto the practice field instead of his customary dozen.
He had a point to get across and needed a visual aid.
“The first day of practice, I took one football,” said Webb, the coach of the Tigers the past 25 years. “I have a bag of 12 balls, but that day I took one.
“I told them, ‘Guys, we got to be able to share this thing.'”
It took a couple weeks for that lesson to sink in to his surplus of skill players, Webb said Friday night, but the Tigers proved to their coach against Harriman in Week 6 that the message was received.
