WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Chase Kuerschen, Knoxville Catholic High School (2017 graduate)
NOW: The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Kuerschen enters his senior season at Tulane University coming off a junior year where he was the team’s leading tackler (76) in 2019. Last fall, he started all 12 games for the Green Wave and led the team in the Armed Forces Bowl against Southern Miss with seven tackles and an interception. He’s producing as a senior, too. Through three games, he’s amassed 15 tackles and a pass breakup for Tulane (2-1). But Kuerschen isn’t some late-bloomer in college. He played in 12 games as a freshman in 2017 and started eight of those contests, racking up 60 tackles and forcing two fumbles in that campaign.
THEN: Kuerschen helped Catholic win a Class 4A state championship as a junior in 2015, snagging a team-high four passes in the 4A finale against Pearl-Cohn for 97 yards and a touchdown. As a senior, Kuerschen wound up as a Mr. Football finalist and finished the 2016 season with 722 yards receiving and nine touchdowns on 35 catches while also setting up shop as one of the area’s top defensive backs.
