CAK football coach Travis Mozingo found himself wrapped in a moment of astonishment while watching Chi McNeil-Harrison play basketball last season.
Mozingo knew what he had in McNeil-Harrison as an athlete; that didn’t produce the shock factor.
After all, McNeil-Harrison had made 51 tackles with six sacks and six tackles for loss for Mozingo in the fall of 2019.
But as he witnessed McNeil-Harrison vacuum up rebounds for CAK basketball with minimal need of a vertical leap, Mozingo — at that moment — saw a massive wing span at work and then perhaps fully understood what his player could be.
“His hands, his arms — he’s just a big-framed kid,” said Mozingo. “I don’t think he’s done growing.”
And now, in 2020, McNeil-Harrison is putting his best attributes to work, absolutely wreaking havoc on opposing offenses this fall.
