Pigeon Forge coach Greg Foreman has built one of the state’s top wrestling programs over the years.
In his 18th year as the Tigers’ coach, Foreman said there is no secret to their successes on the mat, which includes five Class A/AA state duals titles since 2014 and five Class A/AA state team championships since 2015.
“It’s time invested at all levels, the elementary school level, the middle school level, and the high school level,” Foreman said. “It’s time invested during the season, preseason, postseason, summer season. It’s just time invested by everybody, not just me. It’s by other coaches, by the dads, by other parents.
“There really is no secret other than investing time into these kids at all levels.”
Gibbs coach Tim Pittman shares Foreman’s passion for wrestling. They wrestled together at Carson-Newman from 1990-93 and have remained friends through the years.
Pittman is in his 20th year as Gibbs’ coach.
Their annual routines for wrestling seasons have been extremely altered like all other coaches’ routines due to the COVID-19 pandemic – including Alcoa coach Brian Gossett’s, whose team has yet to wrestle a match.
