Farragut freshman Eli Evans woke up Friday morning to a text message from his baseball coach, Matt Buckner.
Buckner informed Evans he would be the starting pitcher Friday night against Chattanooga Baylor, ranked 14th in the nation by Perfect Game Baseball.
“It was a shocker, (facing the) No. 1 team in the state,” Evans said. “Great team. I’ve heard a lot about ’em. I just came out here and tried to do my best.”
