The old guard fended off a young program on the rise Tuesday in the Division II-A East Region softball tournament in Knoxville.
Host Grace Christian (26-7-1) put up six runs in both the fourth and sixth inning as the Lady Rams downed Lakeway Christian 13-6.
Grace, with multiple trips to the state tournament since 2014, advanced to play Silverdale Academy in the nightcap championship round Tuesday.
A victory there by the Lady Rams would force a deciding game on Wednesday.
Despite the loss, Lakeway is still alive.
