MURFREESBORO — A pair of young guns led the charge for Webb’s girls at Wednesday’s Division II-A state track and field championships at Rockvale High School.
Eighth grade jumper Lennox Langham and ninth grader distance runner Anna Graves racked up big points as the Lady Spartans scored 71 points to place fourth in the team competition.
Langham won the triple jump with an impressive mark of 36 feet, 5 inches. She also took the gold medal in the long jump with a leap of 16-08.75.
Graves was second in the 3200 meters in 11 minutes, 49.45 seconds and third in the 800 (2:19.21).
Webb’s girls also took first place in the 4×800 relay (10:03.31).
Meanwhile, Brianna Baker scored all 18 of Grace Christian’s points.
She won the 300 hurdles (47.07) and was runner-up in the 100 hurdles (16.67) as the Lady Rams took 12th place.
Olivia Rodgers’ victory in the 400 (58.90) punctuated Christian Academy’s eighth-place finish (32.5 points).
Harding Academy won the team title with 102 points.
Junior Ethan Fulford had a big day for CAK as he led the Warriors to a fourth-place (57) finish. Harding Academy won with 126 points. Webb tied for eighth with 20 points.
Fulford swept the hurdles, taking the 110s (15.89) and 300s (40.72).
In Division II-AA, the Catholic boys were eighth with 24 points. McCallie was team champion with 164.33 points.
Ensworth took the Division II-AA title for girls with 166 points. Catholic was 10th with 16 points.
