ALCOA — Caden Buckles, admittedly, rode a wave of elation and adulation into the offseason following Alcoa’s sixth consecutive Class 3A state championship this past December.
And rightfully so.
After what he’d been through in the months leading up to the season finale, he probably deserved a decent spell of good fortune and praise.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Buckles and the rest of Alcoa’s skill players took part in a 7-on-7 gathering Thursday with Halls, Farragut and Sequoyah, and it was clear they’ve moved on from any 2020 memories and turned their focus onto trying to win the program’s 20th all-time state championship.
Buckles’ first two throws of the day went deep for touchdowns and more ensued from the senior during the two-hour affair.
