Concord Christian School boys’ basketball coach Mike Wilkins remembers playing against Division I recruits when he was a high school player.
It was in the mid-1990s, and Wilkins played at West High under former coach Chris Lindsay.
“If you ever played (a team) that had a D-1 commit,” said Wilkins a 1996 West graduate, “especially at the University of Tennessee, there’s a lot that goes into that game: the opportunity to play against them, see where you stand next to them, and so on.”
Wilkins’ players got that chance Monday night when Concord Christian played host to Catholic, which features senior point guard B.J. Edwards, a Tennessee signee, and junior guard Blue Cain, who has multiple Power 5 offers.
