The much-awaited ruling from the TSSAA concerning Tuesday night’s scuffle between the Farragut Admirals boys’ basketball team and William Blount was handed down Wednesday afternoon.
And it wasn’t good for Farragut — which was winning the Region 2-4A semifinal 63-50 before it was suspended with 98 seconds to play Tuesday night because of an on-court altercation.
The Admirals and William Blount will not play the rest of this postseason, per the TSSAA’s decision Wednesday.
Farragut will not play rival Bearden on Thursday for the Region 2-4A title and they will not get to play in Monday’s state sectional round, which would have been the Farragut program’s first sectional appearance since 2004.
And they won’t have a chance to secure a spot in the state tournament for the first time since 1983.
Farragut does plan to appeal, two sources close to the situation at Farragut said.
