Desmier Hatchett is the seasoned veteran on a youthful Fulton basketball team, and he’d love to finish his prep career at the Class AAA state tournament in Murfreesboro.
He’s one win away.
The senior guard had 11 points Thursday night as the host Falcons beat rival Austin-East 63-53 for the Region 3-AAA championship and home-court advantage in Monday’s state sectional round.
Sectional winners advance to the state tournament.
“The sky’s the limit,” Hatchett said of the Falcons’ potential. “Coach (Jody) Wright always tells us we’ve yet to see our best. We can be real good at times. People are yet to see our best.”
