CLINTON — Thor Williams was barely able to register the thought of what the ball in his glove meant.
The Anderson County student section, hanging over the wall just past his position in left field, mobbed him just seconds after he snagged the final out.
Together, the crowd that had formed around Williams escorted his charge to the mound, where Bryson Wolfenbarger had just thrown the game-deciding pitch. Wolfenbarger was barely visible at the bottom of the pile of teammates.
Fireworks exploded overhead as Anderson County celebrated its 7-6 win in the Region 2-3A Championship victory over Gibbs on Wednesday evening.
