MURFREESBORO – We couldn’t make it to all events Tuesday at the Spring Fling. But here’s a recap of the baseball games from Tuesday night, a few of which got postponed due to inclement weather

VOLS COMMIT SHINES FOR CATHOLIC

Daniel Parris is rounding back into form on the mound, a little more than a year after surgery derailed that facet of his game.
The 6-foot-2, right-handed Parris threw an absolute gem in the Division II-AA state tournament on Tuesday at Wilson Central, as the Vols commit tossed a complete-game, three-hitter against Lipscomb Academy.
Tuesday marked the first state tournament game for Catholic in Division II-AA, and Parris made it seem like a thing of comfort for the Irish. He did not walk a batter and struck out 10.
“I was working ahead and got my speed working early, and attacked every batter,” Parris told 5Star Preps by text message.
“It feels so good that I was able to do my job and keep the ball rolling to the next person.”
Catholic (26-12) scored all its three runs in the fifth inning, as Nathan Breeden (1 for 4) singled to centerfield to score two and Lipscomb hit at a batter to walk in a run.
Miller Spence and Landon Lutterman each had two-hit days for Catholic, which will take on McCallie (25-12-1) at 12:30 p.m. Central time on Wednesday at Wilson Central. The winner moves on to the championship game. The loser will play at 5 p.m. Wednesday night for the right to move on to the Thursday championship game. If Catholic wins tomorrow, it will have to be beaten twice Thursday to not win the title.
FARRAGUT AND COALFIELD GAMES POSTPONE
Heavy storms rolled through Rutherford County late Tuesday night, halting play in Farragut’s Class 4A opener against Hendersonville and also stopping play in Coalfield’s Class 1A opener against Lookout Valley.
Both games will resume, weather permitting, at 10 a.m. Central time on Wednesday morning.
Farragut trailed Hendersonville, 3-2, after allowing the opposition three unearned runs. Jaxson Pease threw 72 pitches in his three innings of work. Lukas Buckner, Brennon Seigler, Jack Alley and Jake Merrick were all 1-for-1 for Farragut before played concluded.
Meanwhile, Coalfield (27-10) was doing what it had done all postseason — score runs. The Yellow Jackets led Lookout Valley (14-16-1) by a 7-4 count after four innings.
POWELL AND LOUDON DROP OPENERS
Powell (Class 4A) and Loudon (2A) dropped heartbreakers Tuesday in their respective classifications.
Powell (27-6), in the state tournament for the first time since 1981, fell to Houston 2-0 in a tight one. The Mustangs, though, plated two runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth and then retired Powell in order in the seventh to advance. The Panthers drop into an elimination scenario Wednesday. It must beat Centennial on Wednesday morning and then win a 5 p.m. game Wednesday against the Houston/Stewarts Creek loser.
Loudon fell to Watertown, 1-0.
The Redskins allowed a run in the third inning but, offensively, could never solve Watertown pitching. Loudon collected just five hits and stranded six runners.
Loudon will face Adamsville at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Riverdale to try and fend off elimination. If Loudon wins, they’ll play at 5 p.m. Wednesday against the loser of Watertown/Loretto.
