2022 ALL-5STAR PREPS SOFTBALL TEAM
PITCHER OF THE YEAR: Avery Flatford, Farragut
The Tennessee Tech signee finished her stellar career as one of the top pitchers in TSSAA softball history. Flatford won 55 of 58 decisions during her career in pitching the Lady Admirals to back-to-back state titles. She had a 1.14 ERA and 694 strikeouts for her career.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Lauren Brakovec, Farragut
The senior first baseman once again wielded a big bat for the Class 4A state champion Lady Admirals. Brakovec (Anderson University signee) batted .492 and swatted 12 home runs with 61 RBIs. She finishes as Farragut’s career (28) and single-season (12) record holder for HRs.
COACH OF THE YEAR: Sarah Bailey, Alcoa
Bailey guided the Lady Tornadoes to their first TSSAA state softball title in program history. Alcoa downed tradition-rich Forrest 6-1 in the championship game to cap its historic season. The Lady Tornadoes caught fire in the postseason, winning seven of eight tournament games.

FIRST TEAM
Cassa Arnold, Alcoa: The Carson-Newman signee excelled in the circle and at the plate as the Lady Tornadoes claimed their first state softball title in school history.
Macy Belyea, Powell: Belyea (Chattanooga State) was at or near the top of almost every offensive category for the Lady Panthers. The senior outfielder carried a lofty .452 batting average with nine HRs, 50 RBIs, 26 stolen bases and 57 runs scored.
Hailey Brooks, Grace Christian: The sophomore left fielder was a table setter for the Lady Rams in 2022. She batted .462 from the leadoff position in the batting order with 43 stolen bases and 47 runs scored. Brooks also ripped nine triples.
Aspen Calloway, Halls: Calloway was a catalyst for the Lady Red Devils at the plate and in the circle. She wrapped up her career by going 11-3 (1.39) on the mound and batting .549 with 18 doubles and five home runs.
Savannah Classon, William Blount: Classon’s numbers included a .516 batting average with 10 homers and a .656 on-base percentage. The senior third baseman clubbed 25 home runs over the past two seasons. She will play in college for Chattanooga State.
Makayla Cooper, Union County: The ETSU signee was one of the top dual-threat talents in the 5Star Preps coverage area. She was a deceiving 9-7 on the mound with an ERA of 1.32 and 159 strikeouts in 106 innings. At the plate, Cooper clubbed five homers and seven triples while batting .354.
Katie Fultz, Lakeway Christian: The junior LHP won 25 games and fanned 179 batters for the Lions. An LMU commit, Fultz also batted .333 as she helped Lakeway to its first state tournament in program history.
Makenzie Henderson, Anderson County: One of the state’s top catchers, Henderson (ETSU) threw out 23 of 27 base stealing attempts during her senior season. At the plate she batted .374 with 39 RBIs and five HRs for the Lady Mavericks.
Lacey Keck, Gibbs: One of the top young pitchers in the state, Keck compiled a 26-4 worksheet with 12 shutouts and a 1.51 ERA. The freshman also batted .338 as the Lady Eagles finished 42-6 with a 2-1 loss to Lexington in the 3A state title game.
Sarah Livingston, Farragut: The Tennessee Tech signee was a key cog once again for the Lady Admirals during her senior season. Livingston, who played in the outfield, batted .452 and scored 63 runs with 33 RBIs.
Emma MacTavish, Farragut: Compiled a 20-2-1 mark in the circle for the state champion Lady Admirals. MacTavish had a 2.09 ERA with 100 strikeouts in 127.3 innings.
Gracie Palmer, Gibbs: A senior shortstop and LMU signee, Palmer batted .400 and knocked in 44 runs. She led Gibbs with five homers and five triples.
Anna Kate Reichter, Karns: Reichter (LMU) posted huge numbers this season for the Lady Beavers. She batted .555 with 29 stolen bases, 48 runs and 39 RBIs.
Malyiah Smith, Gibbs: One of the most impactful freshmen in the area, Smith (OF) led the Lady Eagles in batting (.468), hits (65), runs (56), on-base percentage (.497) and stolen bases (24).
SECOND TEAM
Shelby Armstrong, Karns: Armstrong batted .400 and scored 38 runs for the Lady Beavers. The junior infielder had an on-base percentage of .517.
Elizabeth Breeden, Karns: The Mars Hill signee hit for a .468 average with 48 runs scored and 19 stolen bases.
Ella Brooks, Grace Christian: The senior center fielder hit .449, scored 43 runs and stole 40 bases for the Lady Rams.
Autumn Caywood, Farragut: The dependable Lady Admirals catcher batted .430 with five home runs and 33 RBIs. Will play in college for Johnson University.
Olivia Emert, Alcoa: A sophomore catcher, Emert led the Lady Tornadoes in batting with a .458 average. She had five homers and 34 RBIs.
Leah Freeman, Anderson County: A hard-hitting senior, Freeman batted .454 and posted a slugging percentage of .808. She had six homers, seven triples and knocked in 48 runs.
Ava Guzowski, Farragut: One of the Lady Admirals’ most dangerous hitters, Guzowski drilled 10 homers, knocked in 52 runs and scored 46 times.
Dakota Large, Gibbs: The sophomore outfielder scored 46 runs and batted .402. She struck out just six times all season.
Addison Pressley, Farragut: This year’s catalyst for the Lady Admirals at leadoff batter, Pressley hit .414, scored 53 runs and led Farragut in stolen bases (20) and triples (5).
Jordann Reagan, Gibbs: The junior catcher batted .341 with team highs for RBIs (48) and doubles (22). She also led the Lady Eagles in fielding percentage (.992).
Abby Spradlin, Seymour: The senior outfielder batted over .500 for her career with the Lady Eagles. She has signed to play at ETSU.
Brooke Taylor, Hardin Valley: The two-sport standout batted .471 and swiped 13 bases for the Lady Hawks. She’ll play softball and run track in college for Carson-Newman.
Kylee Thomas, Heritage: A junior, Thomas battled .431 and clubbed 17 doubles as she helped the Lady Mountaineers to their first sectional appearance in 16 years.
Lindy Webber, Fulton: Webber (Johnson University) struck out 226 batters and averaged almost two Ks per inning during her senior season. She fashioned a 1.96 ERA and had more than 500 strikeouts for her career.
THIRD TEAM
Megan Armstrong, Oliver Springs: Junior first baseman claimed MVP honors in District 3-A. Totaled nine homers and 54 RBIs while batting .617.
Abbie Buckner, Gibbs: The junior went 16-2 on the mound with a 1.59 ERA for the state runner-up Lady Eagles. At the plate she batted .316.
Bri Bunsic, Morristown West: Freshman pitcher went 19-9 (2.40 ERA) as the Lady Trojans went 25-13-1 and won their first district title in 20 years.
Gabby Burkhart, Alcoa: Just a ninth grader, Burkhart won two state tournament games for the Lady Tornadoes. She pitched a five hitter in a 6-1 win over Forrest in the title game that handed Alcoa its first state crown in program history.
Abby Goodall, Lakeway Christian: A junior catcher and third baseman, Goodall compiled a .500 batting average and recorded a .976 average in the field for the Lions.
Gracie Gray, Hardin Valley: A junior pitcher and outfielder, Gray batted .469 with three home runs and 26 RBIs for the Lady Hawks.
Madison Hood, Greenback: A senior shortstop and Johnson University signee, Hood batted .585 with 36 runs scored and 34 RBIs.
Adrianna King, Alcoa: Lefty freshman was MVP of the district tournament for the Lady Tornadoes and is one of the stars of the future in the area.
Ryleigh Maples, Maryville: The junior batted .381 with eight home runs and 27 RBIs for the Lady Rebels.
Jaelyn McDaniel, Morristown West: The junior catcher was the IMAC Offensive Player of the Year. She batted .465 with 46 RBIs.
Emily Musco, Farragut: An ETSU signee, Musco batted .390 with six home runs and 41 RBIs.
Jaylyn Halliburton, Alcoa: A junior infielder, Halliburton blasted eight home runs and drove in 36 runs during Alcoa’s run to a state title.
Kennedy Oliver, Maryville: An outstanding defensive catcher, Oliver batted .309 and was team MVP. The junior has committed to Maryville College.
Lily Taylor, Harriman: The third baseman was named District 4-A Player of the Year. Taylor batted .571 with 11 home runs.
Katie Whitaker, Lakeway Christian: A junior first baseman, Whitaker stroked 11 homers with 46 RBIs while hitting .423.
