From his early dunking ability to his trademark hairstyle and even his name, Blue Cain seemed destined for this.
Yet while he is now mentioned in the same breath as some of America’s top high school basketball talents, Cain innately wears a coat of humility that is both refreshing to encounter and unusual to witness among today’s social-media-crazed teens.
When word finally went public that he was transferring from Knoxville Catholic to IMG Academy for his final year of high school, there was no grandiose post on Instagram by Cain.
And when he was recently named one of the top performers at the National Basketball Players Association’s Top 100 Camp, Cain didn’t pound his chest on Twitter.
To him, those are simply stepping stones he appreciates internally on his journey to a greater destination.
Still, much has changed for the 6-foot-5 200-pound combo guard who helped Catholic win state in 2020 and then had two All-5Star Preps First Team seasons as a sophomore and junior.
And he talked with 5Star Preps about it all this week.
