Joe Anderson paid homage to NBA legend Michael Jordan on Tuesday night, early in the first half of the Maryville boys’ basketball team’s District 4-AAA game at Catholic.
The Maryville junior dropped in his third 3-pointer of the first quarter, just before time expired, and proceeded to turn his palms up and shoulder shrug — a la Jordan, against the Portland Trailblazers in the 1992 NBA finals after hitting six consecutive 3s.
“I don’t know. I wasn’t thinking,” Anderson said, unable to mask his smile. “I probably shouldn’t have done it.”
But at the time, how could he not have? The Rebels’ start was simply inexplicable.
