MORRISTOWN – In a back-and-forth thriller chock full of pivotal moments, Jefferson County came up with its biggest play at the frantic end Friday night against Morristown West.
Patriots defensive back Xavian James intercepted a pass in the end zone by Trojans quarterback Malakhi Isom with seven seconds remaining to preserve Jefferson County’s 28-24 win at Burke-Toney Stadium.
“Tonight we made the plays,” said Patriots coach Spencer Riley.
“We went out and won it. No. 3 (James) is a talented guy. He gets it. He’s a football player. You’ve got to make the play.”
