Sometimes, there are stories we just can’t get too fast enough.
And perhaps you didn’t see them on social media or in the news, either.
So here’s a quick read on some big events that happened this week…
Anderson County’s All-American
Former Anderson County offensive lineman Matthew Pyke was named an FCS First Team All-American on Tuesday. Pyke played at Anderson County from 2o1o-13, graduating in the spring of 2014. He redshirted at ETSU in the fall of 2014.
He’s started every game for ETSU at center in the 2015-2018 seasons, a total of 45 games. He was named the Southern Conference’s top offensive lineman in 2018, as well.
Congrats to Matt Pyke on earning first team All-American honors by the Associated Press; Pyke is the first Buccaneer to earn first team honors since 1997 and first ETSU offensive lineman to receive the accolade since 1969 #ETSUTough pic.twitter.com/NcEcicicdR

Former Fulton star Kentel Williams, now at Austin Peay, was named FCS Third Team All-American after leading the country in rushing yards per carry (7.99)
Northview Academy Needs New Coach
Todd Loveday left Sevier County following the 2012 season to help form and grow and coach the new football program at Northview Academy. Now, he’s returning back to the Smoky Bears program as defensive coordinator.
Austin Price and WVLT reported the news Tuesday that Loveday was making the move. The Cougars went 20-22 with two playoff appearances (2016-2017) under Loveday’s watch.
Wings Up! – Tennessee Tech lands Central star
When Xavier Washington walked out of Tucker Stadium following Central’s Class 5A championship win over Henry County, he knew deep down he’d likely be back on that field in the future — but as a college player.
Washington made that notion a reality this week when he committed to play for Tennessee Tech. Washington was one of the heroes in Central’s 14-9 win over Henry County and led the program to two state-championship appearances.
He finished his senior season with 120 tackles and 21 tackles for loss.
