PLEASE NOTE: All-5Star Preps teams are not recruiting lists. They are teams compiled based on how individuals perform for the season, taking into account their individual skills, their statistics, accolades, team success, coach recommendation, character, etc…
The 5Star Preps coverage area encompasses nearly 70 schools — as far east as Greeneville and Elizabethton, as far north as Jellico, as far west as Stone Memorial and as far south as the McMinn areas.
FIRST TEAM
Avery Treadwell, Bearden
senior, forward, 6-3
The Class 4A Miss Basketball winner and Florida State signee led Bearden to a 35-1 record this past season and another appearance in the Class 4A state tournament. She averaged 16.2 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game.
Natalya Hodge, Bearden
freshman, guard, 5-8
Hodge is the 2023 5Star Preps Girls Basketball Underclassman of the Year, averaging 15 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.5 steals per game. She helped steer the Lady Bulldogs to 35 wins and an appearance in the Class 4A state tournament.
Sydney Mains, Catholic
junior, guard, 5-11
A Division II-AA Miss Basketball finalist for the second year in a row, Mains led the Lady Irish to the Division II-AA State Championship and garnered tournament MVP honors. The 5SP Girls Basketball Player of the Year averaged 30 points and six rebounds in the state tournament. For the season, she averaged 18.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
Maddy Newman, Gatlinburg-Pittman
junior, forward, 6-1
The Class 2A Miss Basketball finalist led the Lady Highlanders to a District 2-2A Tournament title, a Region 1-2A Tournament title, 28 total wins and a state-tournament appearance. She averaged 20.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
Madelyn Ladd, Webb School of Knoxville
senior, guard/forward, 5-10
Ladd leveled up her game again this past season and really turned some heads with her skill set. She averaged 14 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals per game for the Lady Spartans (19-10), which reached the Division II-AA quarterfinals. Ladd signed with Carson-Newman.
Molly Masingale, McMinn Central
junior, guard, 5-9
A Wofford commit and District 3-2A MVP, Masingale steered the Chargerettes to a Class 2A state championship game appearance. She averaged 19.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.4 steals per game.
Keira Leffew, CAK
senior, guard/forward, 6-0
Leffew posted 19 points and 18 rebounds in the Division II-A state semifinals. A Lee signee, she led CAK to a 29-6 mark with 14.9 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.
SECOND TEAM
Carsyn Swaney, Heritage
sophomore, guard, 5-11
Swaney had some monster outings as a sophomore for Heritage, which made a run to the Class 4A state sectionals. Sswaney averaged 14.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.9 steals per game for the Lady Mountaineers.
Lauren Bailey, Greeneville
senior, guard, 5-9
A Miss Basketball finalist and Gardner-Webb signee, Bailey helped Greeneville make another state tournament appearance in her final prep season. Bailey averaged 14.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.1 steals per game.
Karina Bystry, McMinn Central
sophomore, guard, 5-9
Bystry wowed at the state tournament, averaging 19.0 points per game in three outings in Murfreesboro. She averaged 17.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game during her sophomore season. She also led the team in 3s made (69).
Lina Lyon, Elizabethton
senior, guard, 5-5
A region MVP, Lyon led Elizabethton to the Class 3A state semifinals, falling in double overtime to eventual state champion South Side. Lyon averaged more than 16 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals per game.
Renna Lane, Elizabethton
senior, guard, 5-11
Averaged 15 points and 9.5 rebounds in two state tournament games. Played a big role in the Lady Cylones reaching the Class 3A state semifinals. She averaged 11 points with nearly seven rebounds and three assists per game as a senior.
Nya Burns, Gatlinburg-Pittman
freshman, guard, 5-7
An ultra-athletic guard and great on-ball defender, Burns had a phenomenal first year at G-P, averaging 12.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.7 steals per game while helping the Lady Highlanders make the field in the Class 2A state tournament.
Karli Haworth, Alcoa
senior, guard, 5-5
A volume scorer with a solid handle, Haworth averaged 16.2 points, 4.0 steals and 3.0 assists in her final prep season. The Carson-Newman signee led the way for Alcoa in their 30-win season and their run to the Class 2A sectionals.
THIRD TEAM
Hailey Williams, Sevier County
senior, forward, 5-11
The UVA-Wise signee and athletic forward led a balanced Sevier County roster to state for first tine in 20 years, capturing District 2-4A MVP honors along the way with 10.1 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.
Kelsey Pike, Oneida
senior, guard, 5-9
A district and region MVP, the sharp-shooting guard averaged 17.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game as a senior. She shot 43 percent from 3 and led Oneida (26-7) to the Class 1A state sectionals.
Meeyah Green, Webb
freshman, guard, 5-8
Green just finished up her second season of high school ball and still has three years to go. The Division I prospect averaged 11 points, five rebounds, five assist and three steals per game for the Lady Spartans.
Ze’Yana Stewart, Oak Ridge
sophomore, guard/forward, 5-7
The District 3-4A MVP was a huge key to a remarkable turnaround with the Lady Wildcats, who started 3-8 and finished 20-10. Stewart averaged 16.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 2.0 assists per game.
Macie Ridge, Alcoa
senior, guard, 5-8
Although a late-season injury robbed Ridge of any storybook ending to her prep career, the UVA-Wise signee played a big part in Alcoa winning 30 games in 2022-23. In a deep lineup, she averaged 11.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.
Jaden Cummings, Seymour
junior, forward, 5-10
The District 3-3A Player of the Year led the Lady Eagles to 26 wins and a state sectional appearance. She averaged 12 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 2 assists and 1 block per game. She shot 43.7 percent from 3.
Madi Hawk, Jefferson County
junior, guard, 5-10
A Division I prospect, Hawk averaged 16.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2 assists in her first season playing for the Jefferson County Lady Patriots, which won 18 games and reached the Region 1-4A semifinals.
