Heath Woods, who made a name for himself in the local football coaching fraternity at Carter High School, has officially been named the new football coach at Northview Academy.
Woods replaces Todd Loveday, the school’s first coach in its program history.
Loveday left Northview recently to rejoin the staff at Sevier County as its defensive coordinator. Loveday went 20-22 in his four seasons, making two playoff appearances.
Woods resigned at Carter the end of the 2013 football season, having coached 12 seasons with the Green Hornets but also having sustained a stroke early in the 2012 season. He fully recovered and continued coaching as an assistant at Jefferson County after departing from Carter.
5Star Preps spoke with Woods on Friday afternoon. Here’s our Q&A with Woods about his return to the head-coaching realm.
How you been, bud?
I’ve been well. Everything’s being going great. I’m excited today. Got a new job opportunity. I’m all fired up.
