Halls knocked off Carter 67-58 in last year’s Region 3-3A semifinals.
The teams will meet again Thursday at Jim Williams Gymnasium in Strawberry Plains.
This time the region championship is on the line.
Both teams won their regional semifinal games Tuesday at Carter to set up the rematch.
Halls ousted Anderson County 66-54 while Carter eliminated Clinton 59-42.
“Ever since they bounced us last year in the semifinals we’ve been looking forward to this game,” said Hornets coach Tyler Cate.
Regardless of Thursday’s outcome, both teams also advance to Monday’s sectional play.
Halls reached the sectionals last season. Carter returns to the sectional round for the first time since 2015.
Sectional winners qualify for the state tournament in Murfreesboro.
