Bearden’s Hayden Tate was cut from the soccer team last year after tryouts and was relegated to the practice roster.
But he didn’t quit.
Now a senior, Tate made the team this year, earned a starting forward’s job, and is the Bulldogs’ second-leading scorer with 16 goals.
Tate’s hat trick Wednesday night helped lift Bearden to a 6-0 victory over visiting Oak Ridge in the Region 2-AAA elimination semifinals.
