LENOIR CITY — Trey Wilhite calls himself a defensive guy, but he’s plenty good on the offensive side as well.
Taking direct snaps from center, the Lenoir City senior rushed for 122 yards and three touchdowns in a 24-21 victory over visiting South-Doyle in Friday night’s season opener for both teams.
Wilhite, the starting safety, averaged 5.5 yards per carry and had one of the Panthers’ four interceptions.
“I’m a defensive guy,” Wilhite said. “When you put it all on the defense, that’s the most exciting thing. Our defense has been our strong suit and we showed it right there.”
