When it comes to postseason golf, Halls High School did what Halls High School does on Monday at Three Ridges.
The Red Devils’ boys and girls golf teams each won District 3-AA Tournament championships.
And their No. 1 players did their things, too.
Halls junior Lauren Davis — the 2023 5Star Preps Masters Champion — carded a 4-under-par 68 to lead Halls to a 4-over 148 team total. Madison Miller’s 80 rounded out the Lady Red Devils’ team mark.
Davis’ round proved to be the only under-par score among girl participants, though Gibbs’ Brooke Farmer gave chase. Her 73 gave her a runner-up finish to Davis and led Gibbs (154) to a second-place team finish in the team competition. She and Jayden Thompson (81) helped the Lady Eagles qualify for region-tournament play. West was third at 158 in girls’ play and advanced.
On the boys’ side, Chattanooga commitment and Halls senior Ethan Whitaker earned medalist honors while leading the Red Devils to a team win. He shot 3-under 69 to win by six shots over Central’s Drew Bolton (75), a Tennessee Tech commit.
Halls posted a team score of 17-over 305, which cleared second-place West by 36.
Campbell County finished third with a 344.
Those three schools advanced to region.
The District 4-AA Tournament will be played Tuesday at Egwani. District 4 includes: Farragut, Bearden, Maryville, Heritage, William Blount, Oak Ridge, Lenoir City, South-Doyle, Hardin Valley and Karns.
