FOUNTAIN CITY — Halls head coach Brent Hughes found himself yelling “jumbo” several times Thursday night. The package brings in extra blockers and resembles a Wing-T-esque formation.
The formation found the Red Devils success and helped them pick up a 52-34 win over Knoxville Central on Thursday night. With the win, Halls clinched the 3-seed in Region 2-5A and a trip to Morristown West (5-5) to open the postseason.
“It wasn’t pretty at times, I felt like the entire game we were kind of dominant, but we were one or two plays away from finishing,” Hughes said. “Nick Craney, kudos to him for his team not quitting and getting it back in the game.”
