ALCOA — It was a tame celebration Tuesday for the Alcoa boys basketball team.
No smiles in the team photo.
Perhaps that’s because a district tournament championship is just the start of the Tornadoes’ journey to repeat as Class 2A state champions.
And perhaps — even if they weren’t aware right as the game ended — it’s because an elimination game against another defending state champion is next.
Still, Alcoa’s 74-66 home victory against Austin-East in the District 2-AA Tournament finals was meaningful.
