Let’s do it again.
In a rivalry that never gets old, Farragut and Bearden will play for the Region 2-4A girls’ basketball championship on Wednesday night at Bearden.
Both teams advanced by winning elimination semifinals Monday night, also at Bearden.
Bearden posted a 67-48 victory over Maryville in the opener, and Farragut held off Oak Ridge for a 48-36 win in the second game.
Farragut and Bearden earned berths in Saturday’s state sectional round – one victory from the state tournament in Murfreesboro.
“We’ll be ready for Wednesday,” Farragut coach Jason Mayfield said, “and like I told (the players), ‘Saturday we get one shot, regardless of where it is, we get one shot to get back to the state tournament, and that’s our goal.’ ”
The region champion plays at home in the sectional round, while the region runner-up goes on the road for its sectional.
Bearden is 2-1 against Farragut this season.
“I told the kids to enjoy it and get ready for Wednesday,” Bearden coach Justin Underwood said, “but regardless, we’re 32 minutes from our goal each year.”
Here’s more on the wins by Farragut and Bearden from Monday night…
