On the surface, it may have seemed odd that a tight game in the fourth quarter between Harriman and unbeaten Coalfield completely turned on its head.
But Coalfield coach Benson Napier knew the reason.
“Our conditioning,” Napier said.
“We’ve been all over them since February getting them out and running them. We’ve been all over them about being in shape, making sure we finish games. We struggled with that a little bit last year, finishing. They’re working their tails off, and it’s been the story all year, our kids came out ready to go in the second half.”
In other words, the Yellow Jackets had more in the tank in Friday’s 53-27 Region 2 1-A home victory over the Blue Devils.
