ALL 5STAR PREPS GIRLS BASKETBALL
These are not recruiting lists. We select players based on their talents, yes, but also what they mean to their teams, what their teams did this season and also statistical performances.
FIRST TEAM ALL 5SP
Casey Collier (Webb, senior, guard) – The 2019 Division II-A Miss Basketball winner and Lipscomb signee had a monster senior year and helped redirect Webb’s season all the way to the state quarterfinals with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists per game.
Claire Brock (CAK, senior, guard) – The Emory signee was the cornerstone of a banner season for the Lady Warriors, who reached the Division II-A state championship game. Brock averaged better than 19 points per game to go along with 4 assists and 3 rebounds per game.
Caitlyn Ross (Midway, senior, guard): A Virginia-Wise signee and the District 3-A MVP, Ross is a fearless player and consummate leader. She averaged 21 points per game during Midway’s two-game stay during the Class A state tournament appearance.
Jada Guinn (Oak Ridge, senior, guard) – A Class AAA Miss Basketball finalist and Tennessee Tech signee, Guinn powered Oak Ridge to the state semifinals with 21.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.7 steals per game. Guinn is the 2018-19 5Star Preps Girls Basketball Player of the Year.
Jakhyia Davis (Bearden, junior, forward) – Davis constructed quite the season for the Lady Bulldogs, which won 27 games. She led the team with 16.1 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.4 assists and 2.1 blocks per game. She has Division I offers from MTSU, Chattanooga, ETSU, Memphis, Asheville and Austin Peay.
Denae Fritz (Maryville, sophomore, guard/forward) – This season’s 5Star Preps Underclassman of the Year, Fritz led the Lady Rebels (30-4) with 13 points and 8 rebounds per game, shooting 42 percent from the 3-point line and 62 percent overall from the floor. Tennessee Tech and Chattanooga have already offered the budding star.
Skylar Boshears (Campbell County, senior, guard): The top player in a loaded starting five for the Lady Cougars (28-5), Boshears — a Furman signee — posted 17 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.7 steals per game en route to a team appearance in the Region 2-AAA semifinals.
SECOND TEAM ALL 5SP
Jennifer Sullivan (The King’s Academy, freshman, guard): Already the program’s all-time leading scorer (1,358 points), Sullivan helped TKA reach the state quarterfinals with 25 points per game and 6.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists.
Ivy Bales (Gatlinburg-Pittman, junior, forward): The District 3-AA MVP provided a constant scoring and post presence for the Lady Highlanders with 15.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
Destiny Haworth (Alcoa, junior, guard): Haworth made a name for herself this season, averaging 16 points per game en route to being named District 4-AA MVP and The Daily Times Player of the Year. Alcoa won District 4-AA and reached the Region 2-AA semifinals.
Bailey Trumm (Powell, junior, guard) – The Appalachian State commitment and one of the top perimeter shooters around averaged 17.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.6 steals per game for head coach John Fisher and the Lady Panthers.
Lindsey Taylor (Maryville, senior, post) – Maryville made a run to the Class AAA state sectionals, and Furman-signee Taylor contributed 11 points and 6 rebounds per game for the Lady Rebels (30-4).
Campbell Penland (Northview Academy, sophomore, guard): Northview won 28 games, a district championship and a region championship. Penland was a major factor in that success with 15.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.9 steals per game.
Morgan Carbaugh (Farragut, senior, guard): A 1,500-point career scorer, Carbaugh paced Farragut’s 25-win season with 13.6 points and 6.1 rebounds. She wound up with a team-record for career 3s (166).
THIRD TEAM ALL 5SP
Khamari Mitchell-Steen (Oak Ridge, sophomore, guard): A candidate for Underclassman of the Year, Mitchell-Steen gave Oak Ridge 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2.7 steals per game. But she played her best ball at state.
Bralyn McGaha (Cosby, sophomore, guard): McGaha played a big part in getting Cosby 27 wins and to the Class A state sectional round, averaging 17 points, 7.5 assists and 4.3 steals per game. McGaha was the District 2-A MVP.
Kendyl West (Oneida, junior, guard) – The 5-10 shooting guard overcame an appendectomy this season to average 11 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists per game. She helped Oneida reach the Class A state tournament.
Madison Brady (Campbell County, junior, post): A 6-3 post player and Xavier commit, Brady was instrumental in getting the Lady Cougars (28-5) to a 13-1 mark in District 3-AAA play and an appearance in the Region 2-AAA semifinals.
Tori Rutherford (Grainger, sophomore, guard) – Rutherford is one of many young players on the Grainger roster that helped push the program all the way to the Class AA state tournament this past season. She averaged 13.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.8 steals and 2.4 assists per game.
Blayre Schultz (Morristown West, senior, guard): In mid-December, Schultz was averaging some 27 points per game and was well on her way to an all-state-caliber season. Injury robbed her of that opportunity. She finished her career with more than 1,500 points.
Madi Hawk (Lakeway Christian, seventh grade): You read that right. Only a seventh-grader, Hawk paced the Lady Lions varsity team (19-11) with 13.7 points, 2.5 assists and 2.1 steals per game. She also made 63 3-pointers this season.
