OAK RIDGE – The Oak Ridge basketball team has an element this season that’s different from the others Aaron Green has coached in his 15 seasons with the Wildcats.
“It’s the biggest team I’ve ever had,” Green said after Monday night’s 51-50 victory over visiting Sevier County in a Class 4A state sectional game.
Green will soon find out if bigger is better.
With Monday’s victory, Oak Ridge (29-3) advances to the Class 4A state quarterfinals on March 20 at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.
The Wildcats will play Walker Valley (30-4), which beat LaVergne 63-61 in their sectional game Monday night.
Oak Ridge, which beat visiting Walker Valley 88-70 on Feb. 3, returns to state for the first time since 2021 when it reached the semifinals.
