The TSSAA announced the Mr. and Miss Basketball finalists today from the 2018-19 regular season, and four players from the 5Star Preps coverage made the list.
For the Mr. Basketball award, Bearden point guard Ques Glover and Grace Christian combo-guard Grant Ledford were named one of three finalists in Class AAA and Division II-A, respectively.
Glover will be in the running against Memphis East star James Wiseman, the No. 1 player in the country and a McDonalds All-American. Ledford’s primary competition will be the reigning Mr. Basketball in Division II-A — Keon Johnson, the 6-5 junior shooting guard from Webb (Bell Buckle) who has ACC and SEC programs offering him scholarships.
And in the Miss Basketball race, Oak Ridge point guard Jada Guinn and Webb School of Knoxville point guard Casey Collier were named one of three finalists in Class AAA and Division II-A. Collier was a finalist in Division II-A last season, as well.
Finalists and winners were selected by a statewide panel of sportswriters based upon candidates’ regular-season performance, character and academics.
Winners will be announced during a ceremony at the MTSU Murphy Center at a later date.
