Farragut landed four players on the THSSCA Class AAA all-state team announced Tuesday, while Maryville had three, Bearden two, and Karns one.
Three of the Admirals on the all-state team are rising seniors: forward Wes Jeter and midfielders Dillon Bihlmeyer and Pablo Herrera.
Also on the all-state team is Farragut graduate Shayne Miller, a goalkeeper who signed with NAIA Doane University in Crete, Neb.
Look for Miller’s former teammates to join him in the college ranks next year.
“Wes, Pablo, and Dillon will all play college soccer somewhere,” Farragut coach Ray Dover said Tuesday. “It just depends what they want to do. There are some Division II and other college programs that can make just as good an offer for soccer and academics (as an NCAA Division I program). You have to look at the academics too.”
All three of Maryville’s players on the all-state team graduated in the spring: forward Drew Zacharias, midfielder Chatham Headrick, and defender Sam Kenner.
Edson Castro, a rising senior forward at Karns, also earned all-state honors.
Jeter was the Region 2-AAA player of the year in the spring when Farragut’s season ended with a 3-2 loss to rival Bearden in a Class AAA state sectional match.
Bearden, which reached the state semifinals before losing to eventual champion Station Camp, has rising senior Colin Lewis and graduate Mitchell Mazrimas on the all-state team. Lewis is a midfielder.
Mazrimas, a defender, is attending Tennessee-Chattanooga but not playing soccer.
Lewis was the Region 1-AAA player of the year. He’s one of numerous rising seniors at Bearden expecting to play college soccer.
“This will probably be my largest class to go play in college,” said Bearden coach Ryan Radcliffe, who’s going into his fifth season. “It should be even more than the class that won the state championship (in 2016, when three signed).”
