Coach of the Year: Mike Buck, Stone Memorial

COACH OF THE YEAR
Mike Buck (Stone Memorial): Buck led the Lady Panthers to a 30-4 mark and a run to the Class AAA state semifinals before tournament play was halted due to Coronavirus.
SELECTION PROCESS
Players are selected based off overall talent, team success, character, statistics, coaches recommendations and our staff’s evaluations throughout the season. This isn’t not based on recruiting nor is this a recruiting prospect list.
FIRST TEAM
Denae Fritz (Maryville) – The Belmont commitment and 5Star Preps Player of the Year averaged 22 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.8 steals per game while leading the Lady Rebels to the Class AAA state tournament.
Khamari Mitchell-Steen (Oak Ridge) – While averaging 19 points per game as a junior, Mitchell-Steen also recorded 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists per game for the Lady Wildcats.
Jordaynia Ivie (Lakeway) – Ivie erupted as a junior this season for the Lions, leading them to a NACA national title with 16.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 3.2 steals per game.
Emma Capps (Stone Memorial) – The Lady Panthers (30-4) reached the Class AAA semifinals before the tournament was cancelled. Capps, a senior guard/forward and Gardner-Webb commitment, made 91 3s and averaged 18.3 points with 5.1 rebounds.
Tessa Miller (Stone Memorial) – A junior and Belmont commitment, Miller helped Stone (30-4) reach the Class AAA state semifinals with 16.5 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.4 steals per game.
Makayla Alvey (Jefferson County) – The District 2-AAA MVP led the Lady Patriots to 24 wins and to the Region 1-AAA semifinals, where a triple-overtime defeat ended their season. She averaged 12 points, 6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 4.7 steals.
Bailey Trumm (Powell) – An Appalachian State signee, Trumm set the career record for all-time made 3s in TSSAA history and also averaged 19.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.2 steals. She shot 41.3 percent from 3.
SECOND TEAM
Campbell Penland (Northview) – Penland upped her game as a junior this past season, averaging 18 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals per game for the Lady Cougars.
Aaliyah Vananda (Maryville) – An East Tennessee State commitment, Vananda helped the Lady Rebels reach the Class AAA state tournament with 11.1 points, 4.1 assists and 2.1 steals per game.
Jennifer Sullivan (The King’s Academy) – Just a sophomore, Sullivan pushed the Lady Lions all the way to the Division II-A finale with 17.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.1 steals per game.
Maggie Vick (Lakeway) – Vick continues to evolve as a post presence. The Iowa State commitment averaged 14.9 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks while the Lions won a NACA national title.
Ivy Bales (Gatlinburg-Pittman) – Bales really stood out during the Lady Highlanders’ run to the Class AA state tournament. The American University signee averaged 17 points and 7.5 rebounds as a senior.
Sarah Burton (Clinton) – The 5Star Preps Underclassman of the Year pumped in 23 points per game as a sophomore for the Lady Dragons, while also averaging 5.5 rebounds, 3.6 steals and 2.6 assists.
Jakhyia Davis (Bearden) – An East Tennessee State signee, Davis did her thing as a senior, averaging 12.3 points and 10.8 rebounds to go along with 2.1 assists for the Lady Bulldogs.
THIRD TEAM
Tori Rutherford (Grainger) – A highly active guard, Rutherford spearheaded another run by Grainger to the Class AA state tournament with 12.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.9 steals and 3.1 assists per game.
Bailey Burgess (The King’s Academy) – The sophomore guard came up big in the Division II-A championship game with 21 points. She averaged 14.5 points for the season, along with 3.3 assists.
Avery Strickland (Farragut) – The Lady Admirals sophmore is pulling in Division I offers from the likes of Texas Tech, MTSU and Lipscomb. She averaged 13.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists this past season.
Zneyah McLaughlin (Bearden) – A quick and aggressive junior guard, McLaughlin led Bearden to 29 wins with 10.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
Jazmin Williams (Catholic) – Just a freshman, Williams made a tremendous splash this past season, averaging 12.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 3.5 steals and 2.2 blocks per game.
Claire Wyatt (Farragut) – The High Point signee and senior forward averaged 15.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game, while shooting 86.7 percent from the foul line.
Jordan Heifner (Carter) – The Lady Hornets won region for the first time in 19 years, and Heifner led the team in scoring (12.0 points), 3s made (61), assists (120), steals (104) and averaged 3.7 rebounds.
