2021 All-5Star Preps Golf Teams

GIRLS GOLF
FIRST TEAM
Brylee Crouse (Kingston, sophomore): The 5Star Preps Girls Golfer of the Year started her season with a runner-up finish at the 5Star Preps Masters and then went on to earn medalist honors at the District 3-A tournament (74 at Lakeside) and Region 2-A Tournament (73 at Tennessee National). At state, Crouse recovered from a first-round 81 with a final-round 71 to finish fifth.
Sydney Branson (Bearden, senior): The 5Star Preps Masters champion and Tennessee Tech signee earned medalist honors in the District 4-AA Tournament at Egwani with an 81 and then fired a 78 at Sevierville Golf Club during the Region 2-AA Tournament to earn a spot in the state tournament. There, she tied for 12th after rounds of 84 and 74.
Lauren Davis (Halls, freshman): Davis announced her presence in high school golf with a third-place finish in the 5Star Preps Masters in July. She then earned medalist honors in the District 3-AA Tournament at Sevierville with a 75. After shooting 77 in the Region 2-AA tournament at Sevierville, Davis tied for 12th in the state tournament with rounds of 81 and 77.
Kerigan Klauber (McMinn Central, senior): The North Alabama signee ended her career in style with a sixth-place finish in the Class A state tournament, carding rounds of 80 and 78 at Sevierville Golf Club. She was Region 2-A individual runner-up with a 74 at Tennessee National.
Alexis Fishel (CAK, freshman): Fishel kicked off her first high school postseason with a bang, claiming medalist honors in CAK’s district tournament at Three Ridges with a 76. She tied for 14th at the Division II-A state tournament with rounds of 77 and 89.
Bailey McGaha (Halls, junior): McGaha posted rounds of 78 and 77 in the District 3-AA and Region 2-AA tournaments, respectively, before finishing 21st in the Class AA state tournament (79-83) at Sevierville Golf Club.
Gabrielle Starling (Farragut, senior): Starling was the District 4-AA runner-up at Egwani and Region 2-AA medalist (73 at Sevierville). Starling then capped her career with a tie for 17th in the Class AA state tournament, shooting scores of 84 and 77.
Madison Cline (Jefferson County, senior): Cline constructed a solid final postseason to her high school career, firing 78 in the District 2-AA tournament to claim medalist honors and then shooting 72 in region play to reach the Class AA state tournament. There, she tied for 17th in the Class AA field.
GIRLS COACH OF THE YEAR: Tyler Lane (Bearden) – led the Lady Bulldogs to a District 4-AA championship over Farragut and Maryville.
SECOND TEAM
Kailey Lane (Kingston, sophomore): helped Kingston reach state with a 77 in the region tournament
Liz Moody (L&N Stem, senior): won individual Region 1-A championship
Lorien Sweet (Greenback, sophomore): finished seventh in Class A state tournament
Malerie Taylor (CAK, sophomore): finished 16th at Division II-A state tournament
Anna Claire Gibson (CAK, freshman): tied for 14th at Division II-A state tournament
Emery Fisher (Berean Christian, junior): finished 13th at Division II-A state tournament
Maya Hira (Bearden, sophomore): District 4-AA individual runner-up; 78 at Region 2-AA
JoJo Atchley (Sevier County, junior): shot 78 at Region 1-AA to earn team berth to state for first time in school history
Joslin Nave (Sevier County, junior): averaged 82.5 in postseason to help Sevier County reach state for first time

BOYS GOLF
FIRST TEAM
Carson Kammann (West, senior): The 2021 5Star Preps Masters champion, East Tennessee State signee and 2021 5Star Preps Co-Player of the Year earned medalist honors in the District 3-AA Tournament with a 67 at Sevierville Golf Club. He followed that with a 71 at the Region 1-AA Tournament to finish runner-up and also to claim a spot at state, where he finished second overall with rounds of 67 and 69.
Kaleb Wilson (CAK, senior): The 5Star Preps Co-Player of the year once again led his team to another state championship in Division II-A. But, individually, he was equally as good. The West Virginia signee was medalist in CAK’s region tournament with a 68 at Three Ridges and then he tied for first at the state tournament with rounds of 71 and 67. Wilson lost his Division II-A individual title defense in a playoff.
Ethan Whitaker (Halls, sophomore): Whitaker has been one of the area’s top varsity players since joining the high school ranks in 2020. This season, he was District 3-AA runner-up with a 68 at Sevierville. He took third at Region 2-AA with a 72 at Sevierville Golf Club. At state, he shot rounds of 72 and 74 to tie for 15th in the Class AA state tournament.
Jaden Morrell (Bearden, sophomore): Morrell leveled up his game with more consistency in 2021. After finishing runner-up in July’s 5Star Preps Masters, Morrell ultimately construct a nice postseason: 73 at Egwani in the District 4-AA tournament, 70 (medalist) in Region 2-AA play at Sevierville, and a tie for 12th (74-71) at the Class AA state tournament.
Harrison Thompson (Catholic, junior): One of the area’s top players from the Class of 2023, Thompson made a spectacular postseason run for the Irish, starting with is 68 in the region tournament at Egwani Farms. He followed that with a tie for sixth place in the Division II-AA tournament after rounds of 71 and 69 at Sevierville Golf Club.
Aidan Collier (North Greene, junior): Another star from the Class of 2023, Collier has challenged for individual state titles in three consecutive seasons. This season, he wound up second at the Class A state tournament, firing big-time rounds of 68 and 65. He was also medalist (73 at Elizabethton GC) at the Region 1-A Tournament and also shot 69 during district tournament play.
Nick Etherton (William Blount, senior): A Chattanooga golf signee, Etherton finished tied for 10th in the Class AA state tournament, signing for rounds of 70 and 74 at Sevierville. He also posted a 73 (District 4-AA, Egwani) and a 72 (Region 2-AA, Sevierville) in postseason play to earn his berth into the state tournament field.
Ashton Condra (Halls, senior): Condra played his way onto the first team with a big week at the Class AA state tournament, where his final-round 68 catapulted him into a tie for seventh overall. He shot 71 in the District 3-AA Tournament at Sevierville and 78 at Sevierville in region play.
BOYS COACH OF THE YEAR: Mike Neal (Kingston) – led the Yellow Jackets to the Class A state championship, the program’s first since 2000.
SECOND TEAM
Caleb Tipton (Elizabethton, senior): District 1-AA runner-up (69), shot 71 at Region 1-AA, tied for 26th (72-77) at Class AA state tournament.
Ben Johnston (CAK, senior): District medalist (71), 75 at region, tied for eighth at Division II-A state with 76 and 75.
Jackson Hughey (CAK, senior): After tough region showing, Hughey rebounded at Division II-A state with sixth-place finish (75-72)
Colby Johnson (Kingston, senior): District 3-A medalist (7o). After 79 in region, Johnson was sixth (77-73) at Class A state and led Kingston to state title.
Will Bacon (Kingston, sophomore): Shot rounds of 71 and 71 in district and region and then helped Kingston win Class A state with 15th-place finish (77-81).
Blake Woody (Kingston, junior): Signed for 75 at District 3-A, 72 at Region 2-A and 74-75 (fifth place) at Class A state to lead team to state title.
Ethan Vincent (Halls, senior): After a 74 at District 3-AA and Region 2-AA, Vincent shot 73 and 76 at Class AA state to tie for 26th.
Alex Broyles (Greeneville, junior): Broyles fired rounds of 72 at the District 2-AA and Region 1-AA tourneys before his 75 and 74 tied him for 26th at state.
