NASHVILLE — Winners for the 2023 Tennessee Titans TSSAA Mr. Football awards were announced Tuesday during a ceremony at Nissan Stadium.
See the entire list of statewide winners below in nine classifications and also in one category for Mr. Football Kicker.
Halls kicker Owen Taylor was named Mr. Football Kicker for the entire state.
Taylor joined Ian O’Connor (2002) as the only Mr. Football Kicker winners in Halls’ program history.
In the regular season, Taylor punted 27 times for a 45.1-yard average while sending 29 kickoffs for touchbacks and making 8 of 8 field-goal attempts — with a long of 49 yards. He had 6 of 9 onside kick attempts recovered by his team, and he logged 65 total kicking points.
High school football coaches and media around the state nominated players, and a select committee of statewide media members picked the semifinalists, finalists and winners based on: performance, ability, academics and character. Semifinalists were named on Nov. 2. Finalists were named Nov. 21.
How a player performed in the postseason had NO bearing on the outcome of the Mr. Football Awards, which are based solely off regular-season accomplishments.
