2024-25 All-5Star Preps Boys Basketball Teams
Player of the Year: Ray’Quan Watson (Oak Ridge)
Underclassman of the Year: Jamir Dean (Alcoa), Condis Cherry (Alcoa)
HOW PLAYERS ARE SELECTED: This is not a recruiting/prospect list. The selections are from a 70-school-wide area, and placements of the players are based on criteria such as individual skill set, team success, 2024-25 statistics, coach recommendations, 5Star Preps evaluations, awards won, college offers/interest, and character.
FIRST TEAM
Justin Nordin (Bearden, junior, G): One of the most well-rounded guards in East Tennessee, the 6-foot-2 Nordin averaged 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.2 steals per game while shooting 43 percent from the 3-point line.
Ray’Quan Watson (Oak Ridge, senior, G): The driving force behind the Wildcats’ 4A state runner-up finish, Watson earned 2025 5Star Preps Boys Player of the Year. He averaged 16.1 points, 5.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds; He shot 84 percent at the foul line and 39.2 percent from deep.
Trey Thompson (Greeneville, junior, F): A Class 3A Mr. Basketball finalist and major college basketball prospect, Thompson helped Greeneville reach the state semifinals with 24.5 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. He made 96 total 3s and shot 45 percent from deep.
Ty Glasper (Gatlinburg-Pittman, senior, G): The Class 2A Mr. Basketball winner and Lincoln Memorial signee averaged 27.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 2.6 steals, and 4 made 3s per game.
Owen Lentz (Webb, junior, G): One of the state’s top shooters, Lentz led Division II-AA state champion Webb in scoring at 13.7 points per game but also gave the Spartans 4.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per outing.
Cade Murphy (Catholic, junior, G): The 6-5 shooting guard with Division I offers and a 44-percent career 3-point percentage averaged 22.1 points as a junior, along with 8.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.
Cade Capps (Stone Memorial, senior, G): A prolific scorer and Class 3A Mr. Basketball finalist, Capps averaged 31.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. The Trevecca Nazarene signee finished with more than 3,100 career points.
SECOND TEAM
Condis Cherry (Alcoa, sophomore, G): The 5Star Preps Co-Underclassman of the Year had many a late-game clutch moment for the runner-up Tornadoes. He averaged 15 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals per game.
Jamir Dean (Alcoa, sophomore, F): The 5Star Preps Co-Underclassman of the Year led Alcoa back to the 2A state title game, averaging 16 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block per game.
Dom Vanacker (Farragut, senior, G): The 6-3 Vanacker had a fantastic senior season, posting averages of 21.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 43 percent from 3.
Cam Swearengen (Webb, junior, F): The Division II-AA State Tournament MVP helped Webb win a state championship with 11.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
Alex Leeth (Webb, junior, F): The 6-7 Leeth averaged 10.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game for the Spartans, helping them win a Division II-AA state championship.
Nick Steen (Fulton, sophomore, F): Steen’s versatility came up big for the Falcons in 2024-25, helping them get back to the 3A state tournament with 19.1 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.
Brayden Hazelbaker (Maryville, junior, G): Hazelbaker led the Rebels in scoring during yet another trip to the Class 4A state tournament. He averaged 14.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. He made 38 percent of his 3-point tries.
Devyn Martin (West, senior, F): A legit 6-8 forward, Martin made West quite competitive in 4A thanks to 19.7 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.7 blocks per game.
THIRD TEAM
Jaylen Pompey (Webb, senior, G): A true floor-general point guard, Pompey gave Webb 9.0 points, 3.8 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game during the Spartans’ state championship season.
King Hubbard (Bearden, senior, G): Hubbard averaged 12.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game while shooting roughly 39 percent from 3, as Bearden won 28 games.
Jay Kirk (Alcoa, sophomore, F): A 6-6 guard/forward, Kirk stepped into a much more prominent role with Alcoa this season and averaged 14 points, 7 rebounds and a block per contest.
Cooper Williams (Oak Ridge, senior, F): The 6-6 Williams played a large role in OR reaching the 4A championship game, giving the Wildcats 12.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.1 blocks and 2.0 assists per game.
Jonathan Woodlee (Maryville, junior, G): A certified quarterback on the floor, Woodlee captained Maryville back to the 4A state tournament with 12.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.
Derrick Smith Jr. (Fulton, senior, G): A star on the football field, Smith proved to be equally good on the hardwood in 2024-25, going for 17.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game to help Fulton reach the 3A state tournament.
Reed Ownby (Sevier County, senior, G): Ownby helped Sevier County reach the 4A sectionals with 20.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game. He’s the program’s all-time leading scorer.
FOURTH TEAM
Zack Turner (Gibbs, senior, G): A two-time district MVP and Milligan signee, Turner averaged 24.5 points per game and set the program’s career and single-season scoring records.
Aaron Layne (Kingston, senior, G): The Tennessee Wesleyan signee helped Kingston reach the 2A sectionals with 23.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game during his final prep season.
Rylan Woods (Tellico Plains, junior, G): The 6-5 Woods made Tellico Plains relevant in the 2A landscape this season, as he averaged 21.6 points and 11 rebounds per game. He had 40 blocks and shot 37 percent from 3.
Caden Owens (CAK, senior, G): CAK won more than 30 games this past season and nearly reached state. Owens, a 6-6 shooting guard, paved the way with 20.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. He shot 38 percent from 3.
Eli Williams (Heritage, junior, G): A region tournament MVP and a two-time district MVP, Williams spearheaded Heritage’s fist-ever trip to the state sectionals with 17.0 points while hitting 41 percent of his 3s.
Cam Mercer (Grace, senior, G): The 6-2 Mercer helped rekindle the competitiveness level of Grace Basketball, doing so with 18 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
Brandon Dake (Anderson County, senior, F): The program’s single-season and career scoring-record holder, Dake averaged 19.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as a senior. He made 84 total 3s in 2024-25.
