Injuries may have derailed the CAK boys’ golf program at various times during the 2024 season.
But with a state tournament berth on the line Tuesday, the Warriors managed to do what was expected.
CAK posted a 10-over-par 298 at Harrison Bay to win the Division II-A East Region Tournament title by 13 strokes over runner-up Grace Christian. Both teams advance to the Oct. 7-8 TSSAA State Tournament at Sevierville Golf Club.
First Baptist Academy took third (316) in the six-team field. Maryville Apostolic’s Collin Keino (72) and Berean Christian’s Landon Dyer (72) qualified for state as individuals.
Tennessee Tech commitment Bryson White led CAK on Tuesday, firing a round of 1-over 73. Tyler Stafford (74), Cooper Russell (75) and Tanner Varney (76) rounded out the Warriors’ total. They’ll look to get their state-title streak going once again next month; CAK had won six state titles in a row until that run was snapped at the 2023 TSSAA State Tournament.
The Lady Warriors will join their male counterparts at state, as they won their Division II-East Region Tournament at Harrison Bay by a 13-shot clip, as well.
CAK posted five-over 149 and was led by Grady Thomas’ 74 and Alexis Fishel’s 75.
Boyd-Buchanan, as the runner-up at 162, also qualified for state.
Lakeway Christian was third and will not go as a team, though Riley Reed’s 79 secured her a spot at state as an individual.
Grace Christian’s Leah Rowe (93) qualified for state, as well.

DISTRICT 4-AA TOURNAMENT
at Egwani Farms
The Maryville High School golf teams swept their district tournament Monday at Egwani.
The Lady Rebels edged Hardin Valley by two strokes, 155-157. Farragut was third at 164. All three teams move on to the Oct. 1 region tournament at Oak Ridge Country Club.
April Johnson’s 72 on Tuesday for Maryville didn’t earn medalist honors, but it was the second-lowest round of the day and definitely catapulted the Lady Rebels to the win. Rylee Tucker’s 83 rounded out Maryville’s winning total.
Addisyn Newman’s 74 led Hardin Valley.
William Blount senior and recent ETSU commitment Sophia Gambini won medalist Tuesday with a 67.
On the boys’ side, the Maryville Rebels won by nine shots over runner-up Oak Ridge, 295-304. Bearden was third at 306. Those three boys teams advance to region play.
Wil Huddleston, a freshman at Maryville, came through with a 73, as did teammate Wyatt Johnson. Jack O’Quinn and Owen King completed the 295 total with rounds of 74 and 75, respectively.
Oak Ridge senior and Carson-Newman commit Jack Bentz wound up medalist, as his 66 proved the low score by three shots over teammate Lewis Niad.
